There are numerous types of parks, owners, and land managers through Orange County and the region. Each of these parks is governed by a different set of rules that outline things like: operating hours, types of permissible recreational uses, and resource management. Often times these rules and restrictions are governed by the legal documents recorded when the property was designated as permanent natural land. Not all natural lands are actually parks. In some cases, lands are in private stewardship, are mitigation for residential development or have a special wilderness designation. Be advised, in some instances the only access offered on the property or on certain trails is during scheduled tours. Regardless of their ownership and level of protection, these natural areas bring immense value to our region.
